Decnop Team is the first female champion of the Ibero-American match race.


In the final between the teams in Porto Alegre Brazil Match Cup - 3rd Ibero American Match Race, the skipper of the victory was won by Renata Decnop that 3-0 Juliana Senfft in best of five series. The competition ended on Friday morning with the last race of the women’s division and also the race for third place between the Argentine Mariana Silva and Brazilian Béjar Carolina. Silva’s team defeated 3-0 by Bejar.

The team of Renata Decnop, Gabriela Nicolino and Larissa Juk showed great consistency throughout the competition. They only lost one match in the entire league in the round robin stage, just to Juliana Senfft, who ran with, Fernanda Decnop and Luciana Kopschitz. By crossing the finish line, Renata, Larissa and Gabriela embraced celebrated another achievement.

"The Ibero-American was a great championship, The Juju is a difficult opponent and despite the 3-0, I felt tight the result because all the matches were decided in the details," said Decnop.

Porto Alegre was a repeat of what happened to 15 days in Florianopolis, Decnop when the team made the finals against the crew of Juliana Senfft and won the Brazil Cup Match, the division of not only women but also men. Both teams went on Friday for Australia, where they will attend the World Championships in Perth.

They are part of the team of the Brazilian Olympic Sailing and Motor (CBVM), and will go in search of a place at the London Olympics in 2012. There are 12 places for the Olympics and is already one of England for being the host country. If a team to rank among the first eight in Australia, the position of Brazil in the match race will be guaranteed. The last three will be decided in the week from Miami, USA in February. The World Cup starts in Perth on December 3 and 32 countries will attend the match race.

"We are close to reaching the potential we want. We trained hard, and our team is in good harmony. Coach Geison Mendes with us from the start in January, and attended the program developed by the Olympic Solidarity Movement, "says Decnop.

In Ibero-American Match Race participated in eight teams, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Peru. The Championship continues on Sailing South on Friday with the dispute in the Open division, with seven men’s teams and one women. Mexico is the only female crew to run this division. Na final entre as equipes brasileiras do Porto Alegre Match Cup – 3º Ibero-Americano de Match Race, a vitória foi da timoneira Renata Decnop que ganhou por 3 a 0 de Juliana Senfft na série de melhor de cinco. A competição terminou nesta sexta-feira pela manhã com a última regata da divisão feminina e ainda a disputa pela terceira colocação entre a argentina Mariana Silva e a brasileira Carolina Béjar. A equipe de Silva derrotou Béjar por 3 a 0.

A equipe formada por Renata Decnop, Gabriela Nicolino e Larissa Juck mostrou muita consistência em toda a competição. Elas só perderam um match em todo o campeonato, na fase de round robin, justamente para a Juliana Senfft, que correu com Fernanda Decnop e Luciana Kopschitz. Ao cruzarem a linha de chegada, Renata, Gabriela e Larissa comemoraram abraçadas mais esta conquista.

“O Ibero-americano foi um ótimo campeonato, A Juju é uma adversária difícil e apesar dos 3 a 0, considerei apertado o resultado porque todos os matches foram decididos nos detalhes”, comentou Decnop.

As duas equipes seguiram nesta sexta-feira para a Austrália, onde participarão do Campeonato Mundial na cidade de Perth.

Elas integram a Equipe olímpica da Confederação Brasileira de Vela e Motor (CBVM), e irão em busca de uma vaga para a Olimpíada de Londres em 2012. São 12 vagas para a Olimpíada e uma já é da Inglaterra por ser o país sede. Se uma das equipes se classificarem entre as oito primeiras na Austrália, a vaga do Brasil no match race estará garantida. As últimas três serão decididas na Semana de Miami, EUA, em fevereiro. O Mundial em Perth começa no dia 3 de dezembro e estarão presentes 32 países no match race.

“Estamos próximas de alcançar o potencial que desejamos. Temos treinamos intensamente, e nossa equipe está com bom entrosamento. O técnico Geison Mendes nos acompanha desde o início, em janeiro, e participamos do programa desenvolvido pelo Movimento de Solidariedade Olímpica”, diz Decnop.

No Ibero-americano de Match Race participaram oito equipes, do Brasil, Argentina, México e Peru. O Campeonato continua no Veleiros do Sul nesta sexta-feira com a disputa na divisão Open, com sete equipes masculinas e uma de mulheres. O México será a única tripulação feminina a correr nesta divisão. A final será no domingo.
