New WIMRA Representative for Asia
The Women’s International Match Racing Association (WIMRA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Junko Takano (JPN) to the Governing Council of WIMRA as the Representative for Asia.

Junko is a Japanese national currently living in the United States and working for Sony. She is a member of the Hayama Marina Yacht Club and through her membership there has been involved in the management of match racing events (including the Nippon Cup) since 1995. Junko has participated in a number of events on the women’s match racing tour including Calpe, Spain and Hamilton, Bermuda since 2001.

When asked about her appointment Junko said: “I really look forward to contributing to promote women’s match racing in Asian countries. I already have a good relationship with the Japanese match racers and organizations. I would like to establish the same with other Asian countries, too. I look forward to be a part of exciting WIMRA team!”

Junko joins the following Governing Council members:

Representative for Central & South America: Andrea Grael (BRA)
Representative for Europe (Scandinavia): Lotte Meldgaard Pedersen (DEN)
Representative for Europe (non-Scandinavia): Claire Leroy (FRA)
Representative for North America & The Caribbean: Liz Baylis (USA)
Representative for Oceania: Katie Spithill (AUS)
