The finalists in the Stena Match Cup Womens Trophy have been determined - Stephanie Roble (USA) and Lotte Meldgaard Pedersen (DEN) will race for the first prize tomorrow after beating the Swedish teams skippered by Anna Kjellberg and Caroline Sylvan.
After a bad start by Kjellberg, Meldgaard Pedersen took the lead in the first race and held it to the finish. The Swedish team got an early advantage in the next match and when Meldgaard Pedersen had problems with the spinnaker, Kjellberg could gain and win. In flight three, Kjellberg made a great start, got good speed and took a second win. Lotte Meldgaard Pedersen was in a tight spot but evened the score in the next match and it came down to a fifth and deciding match. The Danish team got a good start, Kjellberg caught up but lost the lead at the last rounding when the team had big troubles with their spinnaker. Meldgaard Pedersen took back the advantage and secured a spot in the finals.
Caroline Sylvan took the first point in her match against Stephanie Roble who lost the lead after a bad rounding on the last lap. Sylvan got a penalty at the start of the second match but sailed aggressive and stayed close behind Roble who won with a small margin.
In the third match, Roble forced Sylvan over the track restrictions; the American team sailed a great race and won with a big margin. Roble then grabbed a spot in the final in the forth flight after controlling the race from start to finish.
