From 14 to 19 July, Vladivostok will host an international regatta — ISAF Nations Cup Grand Final 2015, match race event ISAF grade 1.

This regatta in Vladivostok is the largest event in Russia’s sailing life this year and it is the great honor and responsibility for Seven Feet Yacht Club.

On Tuesday, July 14th, 65 strongest sailors from the UK, USA, Australia, France, Brazil, Singapore, Bahrain, Algeria, Japan and Russia will try the waters of Amur Bay for the first training.

An international team of ten umpires from Italy, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Tunisia and Russia chaired by Neven Baran from Croatia will serve the competitors to guarantee the fairness of each match. Anna Deyanova, the Chairman of the Race Official Committee of Russian Yachting Federation, will be the Race Officer and do her best with the local race committee team to make the good races for the competitors.

14 teams are entered into the event. The strongest participants of the Regional Finals of 2015 and others have started their trip to Russia. Among them are the winners and prize-holders of Asian Regional Final held in Japan: Kohei Ichikawa (Japan) and Ebrahim Abdulla (Bahrain) in Open Division and Jovina Choo (Singapore) in Womens, the winners of European Regional Final held in Ireland – Pierre Rhimbault and Pauline Courtois, both from France for Open and Women’s, and the bronze medal holder Mark Lees (Great Britain) with this crew. African Region is represented by the team from Algeria skippered by Tahar Selmane. Two USA crews – Russel Silvestri and Nicole Breault were selected in the North American and Caribbean Region.

2013 Title Defenders are coming to Vladivostok to fight for the Trophies again: Australia in Open Division is represented by Australian skipper – Evan Walker and Brazilian Women’s team is headed by Juliana Sennft. The last but not the least are the representatives of the Host Nation – Vladimir Lypavskiy from Vladivostok – the highest ranked skipper in Russia for Open and Ekaterina Ananina from Ekaterinburg for Womens Division. According to the ISAF policy of promoting Youth Match Racing – another Russian crew is entered into the event – the leader of the National Youth Team – Vlad Abramov from Vladivostok. Pierre Rhimbault and Ekaterina Ananina are also Youth teams.

The event will be sailed in Platu 25 class boats. These fast but easily handled boats sailed normally by a crew of 4 or 5, suit very well for the match race and are rather popular throughout the world.

The water area of Amurskiy Bay and the weather conditions in Vladivostok in July are considered to be perfect for any type of sailing including match racing. And it will be shared with another 100 young sailors competing in the international classes and about 400 participants of keel boat fleet race.
