ÖSTLING ADVANCES TO SEMI-FINALS, REMAINING TEAMS PREPARE FOR QUARTER-FINALS

Marstrand, Sweden (3 July, 2024) The third day of the Nordea Women’s Trophy at GKSS Match Cup Sweden saw the conclusion of the round robin stage between the eight competing teams with Sweden’s Anna Östling/ Team WINGS finishing the stage undefeated with seven straight wins and advancing directly to the semi-finals.

Defending 2023 Nordea Women’s Trophy champion Östling and crew have been the team to beat this week with strong performances throughout all of their matches, and taking every advantage of their local Marstrand knowledge:

“We had a great day yesterday with three important races” commented Östling. “The crew are working so hard and we have been able to make some good and proactive decisions this week – we also had a lot of fun surfing down waves yesterday!”

The WINGS team now advance directly to the semi-finals of the Nordea Trophy as the remaining six teams prepare to sail a quarter-final round in a first-to-two-points stage. Renee Groeneveld/ Dutch Match Racing is paired against Denmark’s Kristine Mauritzen/ Those Seagulls, Sweden’s Martina Carlsson/ Beyond Racing against Julia Aartsen (NED)/ Team Out of the Box, and New Zealand’s Celia Willison/ Edge Racing NZ against Pauline Courtois/ Match in Pink from France.

The forecast is expecting stronger winds throughout the day as the GKSS Race Committee prepares to complete the full quarter-final stage to determine which three teams will join Östling in the semi-finals.
