Linda Rahm (SWE) and her Team Stena Bulk (Helmsman Linda Rahm, Tactician Helena Barne, Trim Anna Skarenhed, Mast/Pit Annika Olsson, Bow Lotta Harrysson) won the inaugural Liros Nordic Womens Matchracing Tour Regatta in Malmo, Sweden.
Extract from the Chief Umpires report:
The OA have done a great job in the preparations and conduct of the regatta. The equipment was first class and the new venue in Malmø near perfect for match racing, with the docks literally crowded with people on the sunny promenade. People were having picnic, or sunbathing on the docks. The commentator by the sponsor tent on the dock helped keeping the spectators engaged in the actions on the water.
Conditions were light and tricky – and temperatures rose to a record 25 degrees during the weekend. Racing proved challenging for competitors and officials alike – but after a short delay due to no wind Saturday morning, racing got started and although the light wind did not allow for races for the 4 last places – or finals, the regatta result was achieved by sailing a round robin in two groups, whereafter the top three in each group met the top three in the other group for a final round robin. This schedule was completed in an efficient way and sailing provided good entertainment for the public.
A dinner for all competitors and the sponsors was organised at a restaurant in the town centre after racing on Saturday.
