New hanseboot arena features infotainment area

Germany - Monday, 08 September 2008

There will be many exciting things to see and hear at the brand new hanseboot arena in Hall B5 this year. With a varied programme of discussions and entertainment, the 49th International Boat Show Hamburg will be staging lots of action on the water, the element on which the hanseboot 2008 will be focusing from 25 October to 2 November. The varied programme will revolve around the stage next to the large water basin from where a commentary of the various demonstrations will be provided. The 15 times 20 metre "pool", wind machines and grandstand mean that the hanseboot arena will be well equipped for the planned activities.

One of the event highlights at the hanseboot arena will be the "Indoor Match Race", an exciting duel between the best German match racer, Silke Hahlbrock and her challengers. "We want to show a gripping competition and thus demonstrate tactical sailing to the audience while setting out the rules of match racing," explained the competitor from Hamburg, ranked third in the world, who also intends to draw attention to the new Olympic discipline at the hanseboot.
