The 2009 WIMRA/North U Clinic Season Starts in Hawaii
As part of a world wide promotion of match racing, North U is organizing a series of match racing clinics. This domestic series will run parallel to the Womens International Match Racing Associations (WIMRA) world wide schedule of clinics.
Kaneohe Yacht Club (Oahu, Hawaii) will host a Match Racing Clinic January 9-11. This "2 day plus" clinic starts with a classroom session at 6pm Friday evening and continues all day Saturday and Sunday. Former Match Racing World Champion Liz Baylis (USA) will be the instructor.
As WIMRA Executive Director Liz Baylis explains, “With the introduction of womens match racing into Olympic Sailing in Weymouth in 2012, we’ve seen a ground swell of interest in match racing and we are working to ride that wave. Our intent is to attract sailors and racers who are curious to learn about this exciting facet of our sport. At the conclusion of each clinic, we predict that they will be converted from ‘sailors’ to ‘match racers’ and be excited about joining the ranks of match racers competing around the world.”
