A timoneira Juliana Mota e as tripulantes Daniela Adler e Larissa Juk foram as primeiras velejadoras a garantir participação na Equipe Brasileira de Vela de 2010. Elas terminaram em segundo lugar na Pré-Olímpica de Vela nesta sexta-feira, no lago Paranoá, e ficaram com a vaga na classe Match Race, que estreará na Olimpíada da Inglaterra, em 2012. A equipe assegurou a vaga por ter sido campeã brasileira e ter perdido a Pré-Olímpica para o time de Juliana Senfft, que havia sido quinto colocado no Brasileiro de Porto Alegre, realizado em dezembro.

Com a entrada na Equipe Brasileira, elas passarão a receber ajuda financeira da Confederação Brasileira de Vela e Motor (CBVM) para disputar competições no Exterior e fazer a melhor preparação possível visando os Jogos de Londres.

"Realizamos parte de um sonho que é participar da Olimpíada. Esta foi uma competição muito difícil e cansativa e já comemoramos o título após vencer nas semifinais a equipe da Renata Decnop por 2 a 1", comentou Juliana, de 22 anos, estudante de Engenharia Naval na UFRJ, no Rio. "Nas finais, já classificadas, não tivemos mais cabeça para competir e perdemos por 3 a 0 a série melhor-de-cinco."

Representante do Iate Clube do Rio de Janeiro e do Iate Clube de Santa Catarina, a equipe terminou a primeira fase da Pré-Olímpica em terceiro lugar. Por isso, a classificação teve um sabor muito especial. "Mesmo tendo ganho o Campeonato Brasileiro e o Sul-Americano do Chile, sempre baixa uma insegurança. A vitória por 2 a 1 nas semifinais foi um grande alívio."

Sempre sorridente e com "espírito moleca", Juliana, além de líder da Equipe Feroz de Match Race, é também a atual bicampeã brasileira de Snipe. Ao lado de Larissa Juk, ela conquistou o bi no final de janeiro, em Florianópolis. "Vou continuar também no Snipe. Ele me dá uma grande base para o Match Race", explicou a atleta, que não tem nenhum velejador na família. "Sou filha de uma socióloga e de um engenheiro. Entrei na vela por acaso. Jogava beisebol e um dia vi umas crianças andando de Optimist na lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas. Entrei no projeto gratuito da Prefeitura do Rio, hoje extinto, e nunca mais parei de velejar."

Com olhos verdes e aparentando uns 17 anos de idade, Juliana Mota, além de Match Race e Snipe, já velejou de Optimist, Laser Radial, 420 e J/24. O próximo compromisso da nova integrante da Equipe Brasileira, que substitui Juliana Senfft, é a disputa do Mundial Militar, que será realizado de 13 a 22 de março, na cidade de Manama, no Bahrein. Ela ingressou na Marinha por causa dos Jogos Mundiais Militares, que serão em 2011, no Rio. No Mundial de Bahrein, ela terá a companhia no J/24 das irmãs Renata e Fernanda Decnop, Isabel Swan e Martine Grael, todas da Marinha.
