The International Sailing Federation (ISAF) has published the Notice of Race for the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships.

The Perth 2011 ISAF Worlds will take place from 3 to 18 December 2011 on Fremantle Harbour in Western Australia.

The Notice of Race states the key conditions for the ten sailing events at the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships. Included in the Notice of Race are details on the rules, regulations, entry and qualification guidelines, format, scoring, schedule, venue and courses.

You can view the Notice of Race at http://www.sailing.org/tools/documents/Perth2011NORFINAL-[9789].pdf

The qualification system can be viewed online or downloaded from http://www.sailing.org/tools/documents/2011ISAFWorldsQualificationSystem-[8271].pdf

The Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships will take place in Fremantle, Western Australia and will feature 1300 athletes competing across ten events. For the first time in 2012, sailing will introduce women’s match racing at the Olympic Games and the discipline will join the nine fleet racing events to contest their world championship in Perth.

Racing is scheduled to take place from 3 to 18 December. As well as hosting the battle for World Championship glory, Perth 2011 is the principal qualification regatta for the sailing events at the London 2012 Olympic Games where 75% of the national places will be decided.

The nine fleet racing events will all sail an opening series before the top ten in each event contest a double-points Medal Race to decide the final positions. The Medal Races have a target time of approximately 30 minutes and will take place close to the shore to allow spectators ashore to get close up to the action.

The women’s match racing format will be an opening series followed by a knockout series. Full details of the match racing competition format will be published by 31 August once the number of entries is finalised.

The action will be covered by the Perth 2011 media team and broadcast live by Sunset+Vine|APP who were appointed as host broadcaster by ISAF in July 2010.
