2011 RMOCR - Preview


Twenty four teams from fifteen countries are in Key Biscayne preparing for US Sailing’s 2011 Rolex Miami OCR - the first leg of the 2011 ISAF Sailing World Cup series for Women’s Match Racing in the Elliott 6m and the only stop in North America. Key Biscayne Yacht Club is hosting the event which promises to be quite competitive with 14 of the top 15 ranked teams in the world competing. Racing begins on 24 January and runs for six days.

For the women’s match racing event in the Elliott 6m, which makes its debut in the 2012 Olympic Games, the regatta will consist of an opening series, a knockout series, and a sail-off for boats not advancing to the knockout series.

Medals will be awarded to the top three boats in each Olympic and Paralympic class on Saturday 29 January.

In addition to title sponsor Rolex Watch U.S.A., the 2011 Rolex Miami OCR is also sponsored by AlphaGraphics, Gowrie Group, Chubb Insurance, Sperry Top-Sider, Harken McLube, Trinity Yachts, University of Miami Hospital and Kattack.
