Rita Goncalves won the Pro Women Cup - Championship of Portugal Women’s Match Racing that ended this evening in Oeiras. In the final, Goncalves defeated Margarida Aguiar 3-0 and has won the national champion for the fifth consecutive time. The event was organized by the Portuguese Sailing Federation, the Sports Association and Oeiras marina at Oeiras.
The OZ Power Sailing Team, formed by Rita Goncalves, Mariana Lobato, Ingrid Fortunato and Diana Neves confirmed the assigned favoritism and won for the fifth time the title of champion of Portugal. Rita Goncalves dominated the final against Margarida Aguiar (Maria João Marques, Sofia Regojo, and Inês Quintino) and triumphed by 3-0. "A Special Birthday today. Perhaps, this title and the most important of the five. In the end, we rely on simplicity and sailed quite well. We fulfilled our goal of winning thischampionship which will allow us to compete in the Sailing World Cup circuit representing Portugal as this is a fundamental phase of the preparations for London 2012. We come now to participate in the Hyeres French Olympic Week."
Margarida Aguiar shows himself happy with second place: "It was very good. We are satisfied. In the end it came down to the physical exhaustion. The crew worked very well and enjoyed myself. I thought I could have not have lost 3-0 but we were exhausted, "said the champion of Portugal, 2004.
In the battle for third and fourth places, Margarida Cassiano (Matilde Melo, Maria Melo, Catarina Mestre) defeated Catarina Carvalho (Sara Matta, Matta and Ana Raquel Rocha) by 1.5 to 1, and closed the PRO podium Women Cup - Championship of Portugal Women’s Match Racing.

Rita Gonçalves venceu a PRO Women Cup - Campeonato de Portugal Feminino de Match Racing que esta tarde terminou em Oeiras. Na final, Rita bateu Margarida Aguiar por 3-0 e sagrou-se campeã nacional pela 5a vez consecutiva. A prova foi organizada pela Federação Portuguesa de Vela, a Associação Desportiva de Oeiras e o Porto de Recreio de Oeiras.
A OZ Energia Sailing Team, formado por Rita Gonçalves, Mariana Lobato, Ingrid Fortunato e Diana Neves confirmou o favoritismo atribuído e conquistou pela quinta vez o título de Campeã de Portugal. Rita Gonçalves dominou a final face a Margarida Aguiar (Maria João Marques, Sofia Regojo e Inês Quintino) e triunfou por 3-0.Uma vitória com sabor especial em dia de aniversário: “. Se calhar, este título é o mais importante dos cinco. Na final, apostámos na simplicidade e correu bastante bem. Cumprimos o nosso objectivo de vencer este campeonato o que nos permite a entrada em provas do circuito mundial, fundamentais nesta fase da preparação para Londres 2012. Vamos agora para Hyéres participar na Semana Olímpica francesa”,
Margarida Aguiar mostra-se feliz com o segundo lugar: “Foi muito bom. Estamos satisfeitas. Na final pesou o cansaço físico. A tripulação funcionou muito bem e diverti-me. Achei que podia ter não ter perdido por 3-0 mas estávamos exaustas”, afirma a Campeã de Portugal de 2004.
Na disputa pelos 3o e 4o lugares, Margarida Cassiano (Matilde Melo, Maria Melo e Catarina Mestre) impôs-se a Catarina Carvalho (Sara Matta, Raquel Matta e Ana Rocha) por 1,5 – 1 e fechou o pódio da PRO Women Cup – Campeonato de Portugal Feminino de Match Racing.
