Claire Leroy, Nantes, France

Claire has been number one on the ISAF Women’s Ranking List since May 2005 and it looks like she is not going to relinquish her hold on the top spot anytime in the near future! She is the skipper of the very successful "Team Ideactor" which had strong wins last year including the ISAF Nations Cup, the Mayor’s Cup, and the JP Morgan Fleming Women’s Challenge. And this year her team has just won the ISAF Women’s Match Racing World Championship at her home club in St Quay-Portrieux, France.

QUESTION: Do you have any nicknames?
ANSWER: Leroy or “la Patronne “

QUESTION: Are you superstitious?
ANSWER: No.

QUESTION: If you were a dog, what kind of dog would you be?
ANSWER: A british french spaniel

QUESTION: Favorite part of match racing?
ANSWER: Start

QUESTION: Name your dream team and who you would like to be racing against in a final series?
ANSWER: My dream team : mermaidsailing team : Grigri, Doro, Elo, Momo, Ophé. And final series : Lotte Melgaard / Marie Björling and Betsy Alison.

QUESTION: Who has had the most influence on your life?
ANSWER: MY FAMILY

QUESTION: Who is your biggest fan?
ANSWER: I think my father, he is my best ambassador..

QUESTION: Who is your sailing idol?
ANSWER: Peter Blake

QUESTION: If you were going to create a reality TV show what would it be about?
ANSWER: Me, it is a joke!! The Environment.

QUESTION: If you were a superhero, what power would you have?
ANSWER: To make life easier for everybody.

QUESTION: What was your best subject in school?
ANSWER: Biology.

QUESTION: Who taught you to sail and how old were you?
ANSWER: I was conceived on a boat…. And my family has had boats since many generation. So I started when I was 4 or 5, but in competition when I was 10.

QUESTION: What is your favorite ride at an amusement park?
ANSWER: Space Mountain, but in Universal Studios…

QUESTION: What is your most annoying habit?
ANSWER: Ask to my crew…

QUESTION: Besides sailing what is your favorite sport?
ANSWER: Volleyball

QUESTION: What is the best thing about your home town?
ANSWER: In Nantes, we have a marvelous festival of classical music : La folle Journée, now this spectacle is in Tokyo and Bilbao.

QUESTION: If you could travel to anywhere in the world where would it be?
ANSWER: Australia and New Zealand.

QUESTION: What is the most important item in your ditty bag?
ANSWER: I am not singing, because rain is coming.
